... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 11 am akst
Saturday...

* snow... with additional accumulation of 2 to 4 inches.

* Blowing snow... will cause visibility of one half mile or less
at times along with heavy drifting snow in the upper Tanana
Valley and the upper Yukon valley.

* Winds... northwest gusting to 35 mph will occur in the upper
Tanana Valley and the upper Yukon valley.

* Timing... snowfall will increase again this evening and will
continue overnight. Snow will taper off Saturday afternoon.

* Impacts... visibility will be greatly reduced and snow will
accumulate into drifts. Travel and outdoor activities will be
difficult.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that one or more winter weather
hazards are expected to cause travel difficulties.

... Snow will continue through the night...

Snow will continue through the night with up to 3 more inches of
additional accumulation by noon Saturday. The heaviest snow will
occur east of Fairbanks.

Nearly 6 inches of snow has fallen in areas around Fairbanks as
of 6 PM Friday.

Gusty west winds around 30 mph in the upper Tanana Valley are
creating difficult driving conditions in blowing snow. Travel
throughout the area has been difficult as vehicles kick up the
snow creating poor visibility.

Snow will taper off to flurries by Saturday afternoon and end
early Sunday.

Drivers should drive with lights on at all times... and leave extra
room between vehicles to compensate for poor braking conditions.
