... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 730 PM EDT for
Murray and Whitfield counties...

At 357 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
that rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches has fallen in the warned
area. Flash flooding is possible in the warned area.

Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Chatsworth...
Eton... Dalton... Tunnel Hill... Varnell and Cohutta

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Additional rainfall amounts of up to 2 inches of rain are possible
in the warned area.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams... rivers... or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

In hilly terrain there are low water crossings which are potentially
dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across flooded
roads... find alternate routes. It only takes a few inches of swiftly
flowing water to carry vehicles away.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
Catoosa County in northwest Georgia
Dade County in northwest Georgia
north central Walker County in northwest Georgia
north central Whitfield County in northwest Georgia

* until 915 PM EDT

* at 308 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
additional heavy rain associated with thunderstorms passing over
the warned area. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches have occurred
since earlier this morning. Another 2 inches of rain is possible
during the next few hours which may cause flash flooding.

* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Hooker and
Lakeview.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... as well as highways and underpasses.
Additionally... country roads and farmlands along the banks of
creeks... streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.

The Flood Watch continues for

* north and portions of central Georgia.

* Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* National Weather Service radar indicates that two to five inches
of rain... with locally higher amounts... has fallen across
portions of north and central Georgia over the past 24 hours.
Additional amounts of two to three inches with locally higher
amounts are possible through tonight.

* Flash flooding is already occurring across much of northwest
Georgia and additional flash flooding and flooding is possible
with the additional rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
