Subject: upgraded river forecast services at Columbus Georgia

Effective on Wednesday... September 24 2014... the NWS will be
upgrading hydrologic services by lowering flood stage levels on the

This location is a flood only forecast point which means forecasts
and warnings are issued when the river level is expected to rise
near or above flood stage. The upgraded hydrologic services were a
direct result of field surveys showing the impacts of flooding
along portions of the riverwalks on both sides of the river.

The following critical threshold levels will be changed to:

Chattahoochee River at Columbus /cbug1/

Bankfull/action stage 25 feet
flood stage/minor flood 27 feet
