Flood Warning

The Flood Warning continues for
the Portneuf River at Pocatello.
* At 10:16 PM Friday the stage was 9.6 feet.
* Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 10.2 feet
late next week. Additional rises may be possible thereafter.
* Impact... at 10.0 feet... significant flooding of agricultual land
will occur around the Inkom and Blackrock area. Lowland flooding
will occur along sections of the river in Pocatello from portnuef
gap to the Cheyenne Avenue bridge and downstream of the Concrete
channel beginning at Sacajawea Park.



Areal Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has extended the

* flood advisory for...
snowmelt in...
central Bannock County in southeastern Idaho...

* until 1215 PM MDT Saturday

* at 1206 PM MDT, emergency management reported minor flooding due
to snowmelt and runoff continues. Flooding has been reported in
Red Rock Pass and Downata Hot Springs, with over 6 inches of water
flowing across a 100 yard section of south downata Road off of
Highway 91. Marsh Creek is at full capacity from McCammon to
Inkom, with lowland and agricultural flooding ongoing just south
of Inkom. Rapid creek in Inkom is also at full capacity and has
reached the bottom of the bridge at Highway 15. Several homes are
threatened along this creek, with sandbagging in progress. With
precipitation in the forecast and snowmelt and runoff continuing,
flooding along creeks and streams and across fields and low lying
areas is expected to continue and may increase over the next
several days.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
McCammon, Inkom, Downey, Arimo and Virginia.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams.
Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.

* at 1159 am MDT, emergency management reported high water levels
and minor flooding continue in the area from Chesterfield to
pebble. The Portneuf River and King Creek are at full capacity,
with some water spilling over into low fields. At this time, roads
and homes are not affected. However, rivers, creeks, and streams
in the advisory area will continue to run at or just above
bankfull, and minor flooding in fields and low lying areas will
remain possible.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Chesterfield Reservoir and Chesterfield.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
