the Kankakee River at Momence.
* Until further notice.
* At 1045 am Tuesday the stage was 5.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 5.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 8.5 feet by
Wednesday afternoon then begin falling.

spotters observed heavy rainfall of two to four inches across the
warned area with widespread flooding likely occurring. Additional
heavy rainfall of one to three inches is expected this afternoon
into tonight and will likely worsen the ongoing flooding. Flash
flooding is possible in parts of the warned area due to the
additional heavy rainfall.

* From this evening to Sunday evening.
* At 845 am Tuesday the stage was 12.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by tonight and continue to rise
to near 20.5 feet by Thursday evening.

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Illinois and Indiana, including the following
areas, in Illinois, Cook, dupage, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois,
Kankakee, Kendall, La Salle, Livingston, and will. In Indiana,
Benton, Jasper, Lake in, Newton, and Porter.

* Through late tonight

* multiple rounds of showers and some thunderstorms are expected
today and into portions of tonight. Widespread rainfall amounts
of one and a half to three inches are expected with isolated
higher totals possible.

* The ground remains frozen, therefore much of the rain will
result in rapid runoff. Rises on area rivers and streams will
likely continue that will result in additional flooding.
Flooding of low lying areas and on roadways near flood prone
areas will also continue to be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.

At 126 PM CST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Highland Park to near Lockport to 6 miles
east of Lakewood Shores. Movement was northeast at 50 mph.

Wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include...
Chicago, Joliet, Cicero, Hammond, Evanston, Skokie, Des Plaines,
Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak Lawn, Berwyn, Oak Park, Downers Grove,
Glenview, Elmhurst, Romeoville, Park Ridge, Calumet City, Northbrook
and Chicago Heights.

Including the following interstates...
I-55 between mile markers 270 and 294.
