... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 am CDT Thursday...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of central Illinois... north central Illinois and west
central Illinois... including the following areas... in central
Illinois... Marshall... Mason... McLean... Peoria... Tazewell and
Woodford. In north central Illinois... Stark. In west central
Illinois... Fulton... Knox and Schuyler.

* Until 7 am CDT Thursday

* a slow-moving cold front will have the potential to produce
numerous showers and thunderstorms that may move over the same
area repeatedly through the overnight hours. Rainfall totals of
from 1 to 2 inches... with local amounts in excess of 3 inches
possible in the watch area, especially where the stronger
thunderstorms tend to move over the same locations.

* Potential flash flooding may develop quickly under the heavier
thunderstorms in Urban and Small Stream locations... as well as
areas that have already received significant rainfall over the
past 24 hours.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should keep informed and be prepared to take action should a
Flash Flood Warning be issued.

At 104 am CDT... Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Eureka... moving east at 40 mph.

Half inch hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this
storm.

Locations impacted include...
Eureka... Metamora... El Paso... Minonk... Roanoke... Lexington...
Hudson... Gridley... Goodfield... Deer Creek... Carlock... Secor...
Cazenovia... Congerville... Benson... kappa... Panola...
Lake Bloomington... Low Point and Evergreen Lake.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 39 between mile markers 6 and 30.
Interstate 55 between mile markers 179 and 183.
Interstate 74 between mile markers 110 and 119.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm... and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
