Areal Flood Watch

Statement as of 8:45 PM EST on February 23, 2017

Expires 7:00 PM EST on February 26, 2017

... Flood Watch remains in effect from Friday evening through
Sunday evening...

The Flood Watch continues for...

* portions of western Maine and New Hampshire.

* From Friday evening through Sunday evening.

* Exceptionally warm temperatures Friday and Saturday will
generate significant melting of snowpack. This melting will
result in rising levels on area rivers and streams. Additionally,
a strong cold front will move across the region Saturday night
producing locally heavy rainfall with up to an inch possible in
some locations.

* The primary flood threat will be ice jam flooding. The threat is
greater in New Hampshire where temperatures will be warmest and
precipitation will be greater than in Maine.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
