... Brisk and gusty west to northwest winds across the area this
afternoon...

West to northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 30 to 40 mph
were common across the higher terrain and open country areas of
southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa. These winds will continue
through the rest of the afternoon and start to diminish after 5
PM.

These winds may make travel difficult for those driving high
profile or light-weight vehicles on north-south roads this
afternoon. These winds could also topple trees that have been
weakened by storms earlier this Summer or the recent heavy rains.

During the astronomical Summer of 2016... both temperatures and
rainfall was above average at Rochester international Airport.

Temperatures - 22nd warmest

During astronomical Summer... Rochester international Airport had an
average temperature of 69.4 degrees. This was 1.3 degrees warmer
than the long-term average of 68.1 degrees.

The average maximum temperature was 78.9 degrees. This was 0.3
degrees colder than the long-term average of 79.2 degrees.

The average minimum temperature was 59.9 degrees. This was 2.9
degrees warmer than the long-term average of 57.0 degrees. This
summer's average minimum temperature was tied with 2002 for the 2nd
warmest. Only the Summers 1947 (60.4 degrees) had a higher minimum
temperature average.
