Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch

Statement as of 9:43 AM CDT on October 02, 2014

Expires 8:00 PM EDT on October 02, 2014

The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued a

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
Boone County in central Missouri...
Moniteau County in central Missouri...

* until 330 PM CDT

* at 937 am CDT... local law enforcement officials reported
flooding occurring across the advisory area. The Boone County
public works department reported numerous Road closures primarily
in low lying areas and areas with poor drainage. The Moniteau
emergency dispatch office also reports several roads in flood
prone areas with water over them.

* Some locations that will experience minor flooding include...
Ashland... California... Centralia... Columbia... Tipton...
Clarksburg... Easley... Hallsville... High Point... Jamestown...
McGirk... midway... Murry... Rocheport and Sturgeon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A small stream Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are
elevated or ponding of water is occurring or is imminent.

Excessive runoff from this storm will cause minor flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross
bridges... dips... or other low spots if water covers the roadway.
Never try to cross a flowing stream... even a small one... on foot or
in a vehicle.

Do not underestimate the power of flood waters. Only a few inches of
rapidly flowing water can quickly carry away your vehicle.
Remember... turn around... don't drown.
