... A Flood Warning for small streams remains in effect until 315 PM
PST for southern Washoe County...

At 1056 am PST, rainfall has decreased in the Verdi-Mogul area but
will persist into this afternoon. Minor flooding near creeks and
drainage ditches remains possible the next few hours as water
continues to flow out of the higher elevations. One of the east
bound lanes of Interstate 80 near Mogul is closed due to water
covering a section of the Road.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Verdi and Mogul.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Some bike
and walking paths in the caughlin ranch and Mogul areas may also be
impacted by minor flooding.

... The Flood Advisory for rapid rises remains in effect until 1245 PM
PST for alpine... El Dorado... Placer... Sierra... Nevada... southern
Washoe... and Douglas counties and western Carson City...

At 1108 am PST, moderate to heavy rain will continue along the
Sierra crest and upper portions of the Truckee River basin through
this afternoon. Several creeks and streams are still rising,
including Blackwood creek, general creek, Ward creek and Donner
creek.

Minor flooding may begin along Blackwood creek during the next hour.

Across western Nevada and Flood Warning remains in effect until 315
PM for the Mogul area. High flows will continue on creeks and
streams along the west side of Reno, Carson City and Minden area
which may lead to minor flooding. This includes the Little Valley
burn scar along Franktown Road in Washoe Valley.

Rainfall is forecast to diminish along the Sierra crest after 4 PM.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. The heavy rains
will likely trigger rock and mudslides in steep terrain.

... Flood Watch remains in effect through this evening...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central California and western Nevada,
including the following areas, in east central California,
greater Lake Tahoe area. In western Nevada, greater Lake Tahoe
area and greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area.

* Through this evening

* heavy rain from an an atmospheric river will continue across the
northern Sierra and Lake Tahoe basin through this afternoon.
Snow levels should remain near 8000 feet, but some spotters have
reported accumulating snow around the Tahoe basin as low as
6500 feet.

* The greatest threat for flooding is near small creeks, streams,
and recently burned slopes such as the Little Valley fire. Rock
and mud slides are likely near steep terrain.

* Flooding has been reported in the Mogul area so far today. Rock,
mud slides and ponding of water is impacting travel on
Interstate 80.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Small creeks and streams are the most susceptible to flooding.
Excessive rainfall may also generate rock and mud slides in steep
terrain. Persons living along small creeks and streams should
monitor the latest weather information at weather.Gov/Reno and be
prepared to take action should flooding occur.

            A wind gust of 60 mph was measured at the Minden-Tahoe
            Airport.
