... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 500 PM PDT for
central Elko County...

At 229 PM PDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate numerous showers and thunderstorms... with the heaviest rain
falling just east of Elko and southwest of Elko. All storms continue
to move southeast at 20 mph. The threat of flash flooding has
diminished in Elko city limits... although rainfall is still
expected. The highest risk for flash flooding through 330 PM is
along Interstate 80 between Carlin and Elko.

Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Adobe
Summit... Elko... Interstate 80.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 415 PM PDT for south
central Elko County...

At 218 PM PDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate a thunderstorm producing flash flooding over the warned
area.

This includes the town of Currie and Highway 93. If you come to a
flooded or closed Road... turn around. Don't drown. This is a life
threatening situation.

... A Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 300 PM PDT for west
central Elko County in the area around Midas...

At 212 PM PDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate rain falling in the flash flood area. Run off from old
storms will continue to flood low spots and roads.

Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Midas.

central Elko County in the area around Ruby Valley... Clover
Valley... and including Highway 93...

At 206 PM PDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate an area of rain in the flash flood area. Run off from the
mountains will accumulate in low spots and likely run across the
Highway and collect in low spots.

If you come to a flooded or closed Road... turn around. Don't drown.

The National Weather Service in Elko has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
central Elko County in northeast Nevada...

* until 415 PM PDT

* at 110 PM PDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
flash flooding from a thunderstorm over the warned area. Very heavy
rainfall is falling on the slopes of the east humboldts near Angel
Lake. Heavy rain may cause mud slides and flash flooding on Angel
Lake Road. Radar estimates up to three quarters of an inch has
fallen with additional amounts of up to one half inch likely.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams... rivers... or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

* small stream Flood Advisory for...
northeast Elko County in northeast Nevada...
this includes the town of contact... H D Summit... and Highway 93...

* until 530 PM PDT

* at 229 PM PDT heavy rains from thunderstorms was falling in rugged
terrain around Highway 93 between contact and H D Summit. This area
was hit hard by heavy rain last night and is prime for flooding.

If you come to a flooded or closed Road... turn around. Don't drown.

... The Flood Advisory remains in effect until 315 PM PDT for south
central Elko County including the top of LaMoille Canyon and the
east slopes of the rubies...

At 213 PM PDT rain continues to fall in the advisory area. Steep
slopes will create significant runoff. Small streams and dry washes
will flood... as will some roads.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away. If you come to a
flooded or closed Road... turn around. Don't drown.

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
extreme north central Eureka County in north central Nevada...
central Elko County in northeast Nevada...
this includes the city of Elko...

* until 445 PM PDT

* at 150 PM PDT

Scattered thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall wree located
from near Adobe Summit to near north area mine... moving southeast at
15 mph. Rainfall rates in excess of one inch per hour are expected
from these storms as they move toward the Elko area. Minor urban
flooding is likely... as well as ditches... dry washes... and streams.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

small creeks and streams... and ponding of water in urban areas...
highways... streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage
areas and low lying spots.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central Nevada... north central Nevada...
northeast Nevada and south central Nevada... including the
following areas... in east central Nevada... White Pine County.
In north central Nevada... northern Lander County and northern
Eureka County and southern Lander County and southern Eureka
County. In northeast Nevada... northern Elko County... Ruby
Mountains/East Humboldt Range... south central Elko County...
southeastern Elko County and southwestern Elko County. In
south central Nevada... northeastern Nye County and
northwestern Nye County.

* Until 9 PM PDT this evening

* scattered to numerous slow-moving thunderstorms will produce
locally heavy rainfall.

* Areas most prone to flash flooding include small creeks and
streams in and near the higher terrain... near any burn
scars... and normally dry washes. Rock slides and debris/water
flows over roadways are possible. Low lying areas... where most
roads are... will be susceptible to flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

southeastern White Pine County in eastern Nevada...
this includes the locations of... Shoshone... Great Basin National
Park... Baker...

* until 315 PM PDT/415 PM MDT/

* at 1214 PM PDT/114 PM MDT/ Doppler radar and lightning data
indicated scattered thunderstorms over southeast White Pine
County... moving slowly. Storms will continue to produce locally
heavy rain and localized flooding. Flooding is most likely near the
higher terrain.
