The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of south central Texas... including the following
areas... Atascosa... Bandera... Bastrop... Bexar... blanco...
Burnet... Caldwell... Comal... De Witt... Dimmit... Fayette...
frio... Gillespie... Gonzales... Guadalupe... Hays... Karnes...
Kendall... Kerr... Lavaca... Lee... Llano... Medina... real...
Travis... Uvalde... Williamson... Wilson and Zavala.

* From Monday morning through late Monday night

* showers and thunderstorms capable of producing locally heavy
rainfall are expected to develop and move across south central
Texas late Monday morning through Monday evening. Rainfall
totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected... with isolated 5 inch
amounts are possible.

* Due to the very moist conditions of the grounds and soils in
the area... rapid flash flooding of low water crossings and
some roadways will be possible where heavy rains develop. Area
rivers and streams are also out of banks or in flood. Some of
these rivers and streams will reach their flood stages very
quickly.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means flash flooding is possible in or near
the watch area. If you are in the watch area... plan now for what
you will do if flash flooding develops. Stay informed and be
ready to act if you see flooding or if a Flash Flood Warning is
issued.

A NWS survey team concluded a tornado touched down on the west side of
Interstate 35 in Austin near brownie drive and diamondback trail. The
tornado peeled back a sheet metal roof to a business on the west side
of Interstate 35 and demolished a stone brick
sign. The tornado also caused damage to roofing shingles... snapped
large tree limbs and tossed a garbage dumpster at an apartment complex
near Hardin court. The tornado moved east-northeast... crossing
Interstate 35... where it caused significant damage to the second floor
of a storage facility. The metal roof and walls were collapsed in on
the southwest side of the storage facility. Ten small moving trailers
were lifted and tossed in various directions... with two tossed back
across to the west side of Interstate 35. Several power poles were blown
over along the access roads of Interstate 35. The tornado continued
east-northeast through the Windsor Hills subdivision... snapping numerous
large tree limbs throughout the subdivision. Peak winds were estimated
to be around 90-95 mph near the businesses along Interstate 35.

A NWS storm survey team concluded a tornado touched
down in the Gabriels Overlook subdivision in Williamson County...
roughly four miles northeast of Leander. The tornado snapped large
tree limbs through its path length. The tornado also caused damage to
two homes... with roof decking on the corner of one home removed...
and over half the roof decking on the second home completely removed.
Two large storage sheds were are also picked up and moved 20 yards.
Peak winds were estimated to be around 95-100 mph... where the most
significant damage occurred to the second home.

Ef scale: the Enhanced Fujita scale classifies tornadoes into
the following categories.

EF0... weak... ... 65 to 85 mph
EF1... weak... ... 86 to 110 mph
EF2... strong... .111 to 135 mph
EF3... strong... .136 to 165 mph
EF4... violent... 166 to 200 mph
EF5... violent... >200 mph

Note:

The NWS storm survey team also found damage in Austin at an apartment
complex near tech ridge Boulevard in Austin. The roof to a third floor
patio covering on the northwest corner of the complex was removed.
Several car ports were damaged along with medium tree limbs snapped.
Similar tree damage continued to the northeast of the apartment
complex... with trees blown down all in a similar direction to the
northeast. This damage was determined to be straight-line wind damage
of 80-85 mph.

The NWS storm survey team also found damage in Pflugerville to a
one story office building under construction near north heatherwilde
Boulevard and FM 1825. The walls of the building under construction
completely collapsed. No visible damage was observed to surrounding
trees and buildings already completed in the same business complex.
Tree and minor roof damage was also reported around one mile downstream
to the northeast in Pflugerville. This damage has preliminarily been
determined to be straight-line wind damage of 70-75 mph.

The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to
change pending final review of the events and publication in
NWS storm data.
