A noticeable change to the weather will be arriving to eastern
Utah and western Colorado over the next 24 to 48 hours. A Pacific
storm system will be sweeping eastward beginning tonight and
arrive to the Great Plains by Monday morning. Showers will be
possible over the higher terrain of northern Utah and western
Colorado by sunrise tomorrow. The record high temperatures of
Saturday will move by the Wayside as highs cool some 5 to 10
degrees under the cloud cover on Sunday. The period of focus for
the passing storm system will be Sunday evening into the early
morning hours on Monday as the cold front passes through. Snow
showers will become more widespread over the northern and central
Colorado high country as colder air filters in. Snow amounts will
generally be in the 1-3 inch range above 9000 feet with some
impact to Rabbit Ears and Vail passes possible. As the storm winds
down on Monday cold air will be filtering into the region. Clear
skies by Monday evening will bring favorable conditions for
widespread freezing conditions to the lower valleys of western
Colorado and northeast Utah.

At 2:54 PM MDT, the temperature at the Grand Junction co regional
Airport reached 76 degrees. This set a new record high for today,
breaking the previous record of 75, set in 1977. An update will be
sent when the final official record high for today is reached.

At Cortez, the high temperature yesterday was 77. This tied the
record high for the date, last set in 1959.

At Massadona, the high temperature yesterday was 74 degrees. This
set a new record high for the date, breaking the previous record of
71, last set in 2011.

At 1 mile southwest of Paonia, the high temperature yesterday was 77
degrees. This tied the record high for the date, last set in 1959.


In eastern Utah...

At The Needles area of Canyonlands National Park, the high
temperature yesterday was 81 degrees. This set a new record high
for the date, breaking the previous record of 77, set in 2011.
