Areal Flood Warning

Statement as of 6:32 AM EDT on July 29, 2017

Expires 9:30 AM EDT on July 29, 2017

The National Weather Service in Charleston West Virginia has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
northern Randolph County in northeastern West Virginia...
Taylor County in northern West Virginia...
Barbour County in northeastern West Virginia...

* until 930 am EDT

* at 628 am EDT, moderate to heavy rainfall continues to pivot
across the area this morning. Over an inch or more of rain has
fallen overnight and about another inch is possible before
rainfall eventually comes to an end later this morning. Small
streams and creeks are already running high and any additional
rainfall could cause them to overflow their banks.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Elkins, Grafton, Philippi, Audra State Park, Belington, Junior,
Flemington, Womelsdorf (coalton), Montrose, Harman, Valley falls,
Pheasant Run, Moatsville, Dryfork, Knottsville, Nestorville,
Bowden, Tygart Lake State Park, Kerens and Thornton.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate Route.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
